Coaching Philosophy & Expectations
As a Glendale Soccer coach, you set the standard — not just for your players, but for the parents on the sideline. That means thinking before you act, treating everyone with respect, and modeling the sportsmanship you want to see from your team. Good sportsmanship isn't just expected — it's taught, encouraged, and demonstrated every time you step onto the field.
All coaches and assistant coaches are expected to:
- Support our mission — Make every player's experience fun and enjoyable
- Be reasonable — Never yell at or ridicule players for mistakes or losses
- Build respect — For opponents, referees, and the game itself
- Lead by example — Be generous with praise and patient with mistakes
- Know the laws of the game
- Communicate regularly with parents
Enforcement: Violations of these expectations are taken seriously. A first offense results in a warning from the board president. A second offense results in a missed match. A third offense results in dismissal from coaching duties.
Complaints may be submitted by parents, spectators, referees, or other coaches and should be directed to any board member.
